Because I can:
• Holy Fuck’s Latin is stellar. Instrumental album of the year, probably one of the top 10 across the board, and this has been a very good year.
• Kanye’s “Power” is a awesome return to form. I don’t care if people think he’s an asshole (or if he’s actually an asshole), the man is an incredibly talented performer, and one of the brightest stars in hip-hop.
• I started listening to Jawbreaker again. Bivouac is a stellar album, and not just because Chesterfield King is one of the best punk/emo songs ever written. Why did these guys languish while Green Day flourished? I call shenanigans.
• Katy Perry’s new single “California Girls” wins an award for hate/love. I hate everything about the production, lyrics, beat, attitude. I love the kinda-disco guitar part that’s in the bridge and chorus. It’s like a tootsie roll pop, except instead of being wrapped in a candy shell, it’s wrapped in mint-flavored electrical tape.
• Speaking of Jawbreaker, listen to Braid if you haven’t already. I wish I went to their reunion shows…
• I finally burned myself a Mountain Goats CD, The Sunset Tree. Okay, I finally get it, and I look forward to getting more into it as the summer goes on. And “This Year” is as good as everyone says.
• The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me is so much better than you remember.
• Johnny Foreigner’s new single is fucking amazing. Amazing to the point I’m actually going to upload it as soon as I hit the Create Post button. Watch me go.
